WWE legend Dwayne Johnson with the ring name “The Rock” surprised the UFC fighter Themba Gorimbo in a wholesome moment on Friday, in Miami.
The Rock promised to meet Gorimbo after the fighter won his first UFC fight in May and finally fulfilled his promise.
Gorimbo, 32, made his UFC debut earlier this year but lost the fight. However, his first win in the Octagon eventually came in May after which the Zimbabwean opened up about his poor financial condition.
The 32-year-old stated that he only had “$7” to his name before the fight which grabbed the attention of the Rock.
However, after his maiden victory which helped him won $7000, the MMA star auctioned his kit and sent some of his winning money to his village so that they could have clean water.
After hearing this story, the Rock was heavily impressed by Gorimbo’s journey and promised to meet him.
“This is crazy to see and brings back many emotions and memories. $7.49 in this fighter’s bank account. I once had $7 bucks too. I’ve been there on that grind. Got your back, brother. I’ll help. You got this. I’ll be in touch,” he tweeted.
After meeting Gorimbo, it is reported that the Rock gifted the fighter a fully furnished house in Miami.
The 32-year-old had a very tough life. His scars are not just physical but mental too. At the age of 16, he experienced a huge tragedy. After his mother’s death at the age of nine and then his father’s death just after four years, with no one to guide him, he took a wrong turn and ended up digging illegally for Marange diamonds.
Gorimbo has often talked about his survival days and stated that one night the police caught him.
The story of the Zimbabwean has helped him gain respect as he became, whatever he is today, due to his hard luck and unmatched determination.
